Our Mission

We believe that it is important to be deliberate in everything we do. What is the purpose behind this ministry, or that activity, or that gathering? Therefore, we have established what we call our mission or strategy for accomplishing the eternal purposes of Evangelism, Fellowship, Worship, Discipleship, Ministry and that is . . . Connect - Grow - Live.

Our purpose is to see people begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and to continue in community with one another.

Our purpose is to guide people to greater knowledge and wisdom of God and His Word on their journey of faith.

Our purpose is to challenge people to use their spiritual gifts and talents to impact others for the Kingdom of God.

Our Beliefs

Emmanuel is a contemporary Baptist church filled with people who recognize their brokenness and need of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. The Word of God leads our every purpose and practice. Each person is challenged to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ where he has access to God through prayer, worship, and service. We are a church of imperfect people serving a perfect and awesome God!

The Bible — We believe the Bible as originally written was verbally inspired by God and is inerrant in all that it affirms. It is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried. 2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” (NIV) 2 Peter 1:20-21 – “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.  For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (NIV)

Trinity—We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are equal in divinity but have distinct yet harmonious roles. Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (NIV) 1 Peter 1:2 – “who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood…” (NIV)

God—We believe in God the Father as the eternally existent creator and sustainer. He, along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, in eternity past, planned redemption. He is active in the world today and is the only being worthy of worship. Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (NIV) Isaiah 43:7 – “…everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (NIV)

Jesus—We believe in Jesus Christ as the eternally existent, instrumental in creation, fully divine God/Man, who, through His death on the cross, made atonement to God for the sins of those who believe in Him. And through His bodily resurrection provided hope by defeating death, overcoming Satan, and securing a future resurrection for the redeemed. He currently intercedes for believers. Colossians 1:15-20. John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (NIV)

Holy Spirit—We believe in the Holy Spirit as a divine person equal to God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature. He is presently active in all who have put their faith in Jesus. We believe that the sign gifts were unique to the burgeoning Christ movement of the first century. 1 Corinthians 6:19 – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” (NIV) Ephesians 1:13-14 – “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (NIV)

Mankind—We believe that man was created in the image of God both male and female. Yet through willful sin fell from His perfection and therefore stands condemned before God. Therefore, all men are born into sin because of their predecessor Adam. Mankind’s purpose is to worship the true God. Genesis 1:26-28 “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’” (NIV) Psalm 51:5 “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” (NIV) Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—” (NIV)

Salvation—We believe that salvation is completely a work of God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone and people can do nothing to earn it. Ephesians 2:8-9 – “8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (NIV)

Church—We believe the local church is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. We practice the ordinance of believer’s baptism by immersion and fellowship through the Lord’s Supper. Our purpose is to spread the gospel to the entire world. Ephesians 3:10 “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,” (NIV)

Future—We believe that in the future Christ will come again to redeem the church and Israel. Furthermore, He will establish a new heaven and new earth where all who are redeemed will be with Him for eternity and all who are condemned will spend eternity separated from Him in Hell. Revelation 20:12-15. Revelation 21:1-4 “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’” (NIV)

Loving God. Loving People.

What To Expect

Sundays are the day we gather together to worship and listen to God's powerful Word in community together. We have three different options. Pick which one fits you best!

Our 8:45 AM traditional gathering is grounded in the rich history of the hymns, choruses, and choir music.  You will be blessed by special music from our members and challenged in the Word of God from our pastor.  This style leans toward what is referred to as “your Sunday best” as most people are “dressed up.”  You can expect a warm welcome and a complimentary cup of coffee.  Each Sunday is filled with people who are searching for God’s purpose in their lives.  Come and check it out; you’ll never be the same!

Our 11:15 AM contemporary gathering is filled with energy and excitement!  You can expect passionate and familiar worship songs and practical preaching from God’s Word.  It is a “come as you are” gathering where most people dress casual while enjoying a complimentary cup of coffee.  Our purpose is to motivate each person to action in his life while building connection with God and each other.  Each Sunday is filled with people who are searching for God’s purpose in their lives.  Come and check it out; you’ll never be the same!

Our 6:00 PM young adult gathering is all about reaching the next generation.  We believe that the millennials have tremendous potential to change the world for Jesus Christ.  Therefore, we have invested in a gathering focused just on them.  The music is upbeat and the lessons are interactive as we seek to build community.  Currently, we are meeting at the 3:20 Lighthouse Cafe in downtown Davison.  If you’re a 20-something, this gathering has you in mind.  Come and check it out; you’ll never be the same!
